Preparation of drug microparticles with a narrow size distribution using regular dimples induced by buckling instability

Particle size reduction is effective in increasing the dissolution rate and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. However, obtaining microparticles without a distribution or even with narrow difficult conventional methods, such as milling antisolvent precipitation. In novel method used this study, uniformly sized droplets drug solution were first prepared on polydimethylsiloxane film, film was dried thereafter to precipitate particles distribution. The follows: surface oxidized through UV-ozone treatment. stress layer swollen polar organic solvents caused buckling instability, which induced formation regular dimples. A similar dip coating then produce uniform dimples prepare using salicin nifedipine.
